The General Adviser as an internal adviser to the credit union, who works with the President/CEO and the Supreme Command to provide legal support to institutions, including reviewing contracts in areas, to name a few: the credit union operations; Banking services, payments, consumer protection regulations; Commercial real estate purchase agreements and rental contracts. The General Adviser reports to the President/CEO.

The General Adviser helps in implementing best practices to determine and reduce legal risks and ensure the organizational compliance with the Credit Union, including new and existing products offers. The General Adviser also oversees the external advisor with regard to the management of the legal issues of the credit federation and provides the lawyer of the President/CEO on the areas of operational development and business development.

The General Adviser provides advice on legal and political issues related to supervision, regulation and systematic legal risks and helps in assessing legal complaints, actual and potential litigation, and helps the administration of litigation and external advisor, consider budget, negotiations, strategic planning and cost management.

The General Adviser is overseeing the administration of the compliance manager, and perhaps others. The General Adviser will be responsible for compliance with the Credit Union, BSA/AML, sellers management and losses of losses, although other areas may be appointed. Responsibilities include the general trend, strategy, coordination and evaluation of these areas.

In addition, the General Adviser is responsible for the following:

• He participates as a member of the High Command team in formulating solutions to organizational challenges.

• Responsible for analyzing, searching for legal documents and preparing them to provide accurate and effective legal advice for the credit union.

• Research, analyzing and explaining the complex laws, regulations and rules.

• Provides the legal review of the applicable communications, including complaints responses.

• It is proactively determined, monitoring and addressing legal, organizational and industrial trends, providing advice to the credit federation administration.

• Negotiation, drafts and contract reviews that guarantee compliance with all the regulations in force.

• Provides instructions on corporate governance and legal protection issues.

Education and/or experience

• BA/BS in business administration, related field, or equivalent experience.

• The minimum of 8 years of experience in financial institutions, preferably in credit federations, supervision of compliance, risk management, legal issues, and sellers management.

• At least 5 years of administrative experience in leading high -performance teams in law and compliance functions.

• An in -depth understanding of the main commercial issues and trends in the financial industry (especially credit unions) including, to name a few, the knowledge of strategic and operational planning, the economies of financial institutions, federal, state, local, marketing, financial and total cost analysis.

• A strong knowledge of federal and state regulations that affect credit unions.

Efficiency in legal research platforms, strong analytical skills and problem solving.

• It is preferable to have advanced efficiency in MS Office Suite and contract management tools.

Knowledge, skills and capabilities:

  • Understanding the principles of risk management and how to apply them to credit union operations.
  • Excellent communication skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast -paced environment, maintain confidentiality, show excellent organizational skills and take care of detail.
  • Knowing the economics of the financial institution and trends in the financial industry.
