A scourge in West Yorkshire was ordered to pay more than 100,000 pounds after he obtained Covid-19 government support loans, in case of highlighting continuous enforcement measures against the fraud in the construction industry.
Mark Dignan, 56, told the director of MBL SCAFOLDING Services LTD, based in the Leeds Crown Court, that he should restore approximately 60,000 pounds within six months or confront the prison, after already paid about 55,000 pounds.
The case focuses on DeGnan’s fraudulent requests for two loans worth 50,000 pounds in 2020, which he obtained by amplifying his annual company. Under the rules of the plan, companies were limited to one loan of up to 25 percent of their annual revenues, reaching 50,000 pounds.
Degnan received a suspended sentence for two years earlier this year and it was excluded from acting as a company manager for a period of five years-a ban that prevents him from holding high positions in any sudden or constructive company during this period.
He must also complete 50 hours of community service.
The Bounce Back Plan, which was launched in May 2020, presented decisive lifestyles for thousands of business and scaffolding while securing the epidemic. However, the situation shows how some operators have taken advantage of emergency support measures designed to protect legitimate companies and their workforce.
Alexander Jeruson of the asset recovery team at insolvency service said the confiscation order sends a clear message to the industry. “Mark DeGnan takes off a scheme designed to help small companies during the epidemic,” He stated.
Enforcement procedures are part of the broader government efforts to restore support funds that have been claimed in the construction sector, with the authorities continuing to investigate suspicious requests during 2020-2021.
