About the role

College of Biological and Maritime Sciences at the University of Pleimouth (www.plymouth.ac.uk/schools/school-f-biological-nd-MARINE-SCINCESHe seeks to appoint a new lecturer in marine preservation. You will have experience in the field of marine conservation, marine biology, or politics, and you will be a high -motivated academic that seeks the opportunity to build a profession at an international reputation university in marine conservation. We are particularly interested in applicants who have experience in MPA management, spatial environment, marine vendors/preservation of marine birds/environment. It is expected that it will develop a successful research portfolio within the very successful marine provincial research group (www.plymouth.ac.uk/research/marine-conservation-research-group))

Our programs focus on job training and inspiration for change for a more sustainable future through biological science topics, marine sciences, preservation and marine biology. Students are taught by experts in their fields, with teaching science through the world leading research that the university won the anniversary of the Queen’s anniversary of the Environment and Conservation, and won the sixth rank in the classification of influence in the United Kingdom for the goal of sustainable development of the United Nations, life under water in the higher Times rankings in higher education 2025.

The date will complete and build on our research and teaching strengths through a variety of naval preservation topics, including; Preserving marine mammals, monitoring the ecosystem, noise and light pollution, the societal environment, politics and management, and scientific diving.

The teaching associated with this role is closely with two new programs planned for 2026; Marine conservation, BSC, the sea vertebrate environment and a master’s memorization, with additional education in our master’s degrees in marine preservation and BSC in ocean sciences and marine preservation. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to teaching throughout the school, including external field courses.

We are looking for good quantitative skills and active research in any of the following areas:

  • Marine vertebrates/marine environment and memorization
  • Applied Marine Conservation Environment
  • Spatial management and MPAS
  • Environmental fisheries and management
  • Marine conservation policy and practice
  • Society and sustainability in marine environments

You will have a doctoral degree and the post -PhD level or its equivalent with a research record installed through high -level outputs of quality that is likely to contribute to providing the future research framework in the United Kingdom (ReF).

This is a full -time position that works 37 hours a week on a permanent basis.

A successful candidate may be asked to obtain an ATAS certificate before conducting this research.
