Role summary

The director of research, governance and integrity (the regime) will be great in the main team of the Ethics, Governance and Integrity Team (REGI) in RSSD, where she has submitted reports to the Head of Research and Integrity Governance. They will be responsible for maintaining and improving operations to ensure the treatment of research ethics and governance applications efficiently, and they are obtained in time, and control is preserved throughout the project life including reporting and publishing. One of the main responsibility is to ensure that the data kept in ethics and governance systems in research works in line with UOB requirements. The mail holder will cooperate with colleagues in the five university colleges to develop and implement directions, policies and procedures in order to ensure the safety of the participants in the research and the safety of our search data. This will include professional leadership experts for ethics / care reviews for research and supportive team members as a great leader of the team. Working with senior employees will be required to create suitable systems to ensure good ethics and research standards in each college. The holder of the role will attend the Supreme University Committee as needed, for example, the Committee for the Department of Research, Ethics and University of Integrity (RGEIC), the Human Tissue Control Committee and the Committee for Oversight on Clinical Experiences to provide evidence of appropriate operations and standards. The post offers an interesting and varied work burden and an opportunity to help support advanced research.

Main duties

  • Manage the review process and approval of university research ethics reviews and care applications under the UK policy framework for health and social care and clinical experiments regulations.
  • Managing amendments and reports of morally approved projects and sponsoring them by the University of Birmingham, and taking appropriate measures to ensure compliance with the relevant guidelines / legislation.
  • Providing experts, guidance and training for the UOB research community (employees and students) to ensure researchers’ awareness of good behavior expectations, especially with regard to research ethics and governance operations. Prepare and update the content content and contribute to the electronic tool.
  • Communicate with the college/schools and ensure that all moral and organizational requirements are met for the research that employees and students do.

Required knowledge, skills, qualifications and experience

  • The experience of work in research ethics and / or the ability to govern EGIN NHS, an academic institution or a pharmaceutical company (or the like), or extensive experience to manage clinical experiments (or other links).
  • He received his education to the level of certificate (or equivalent qualifications) and evidence of self -directed research or sympathy for the search process.
  • A clear understanding of the organizational and political environment for research in the United Kingdom and internationally, including the organization of clinical experiences and compliance with the human tissue law.
