The Faculty of Health and Science in Life wants to employ post PhD research to conduct genetic analysis of factors that affect the penetration and expression of blood disease. This publication funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC) is available from 12Y January 2026 to 30Y September 2028.

Blood poisoning is the most common genetic condition in the UK, with up to 1 in 150 people at a significant risk of iron excessive pregnancy. However, a major clinical need is not necessary to understand the patient’s great fluctuations in symptoms and results. The team aims with funding from the prestigious MRC award, and aims to discover genetic and clinical features that can help identify people who will develop damage to the blood organs, to determine patients’ priorities for further investigation.

It will work with a global leading team of genetic genetics, data scientists and doctors to discover genetic factors that explain the differences in clinical results. You will get access to genetics on a large scale and medical registration data from> a million people from “UK BIOBANK” and “both of us”. As part of the larger work program, you will have the opportunity to interact with patients, with scientists from various disciplines, specialized doctors and pathogens.

About you

The successful applicant will be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals; Defining research financing sources, contributing to the process of providing funds and submitting presentations in conferences and other events.

Applicants will have a relevant or qualified doctorate degree/equivalent experience in the field of relevant study. The successful applicant will be a recognized authority at the national level in human genetics, computer science or statistical analysis, and he has sufficient specialized knowledge in discipline to develop research programs and methodologies. The successful applicant will also be able to work cooperatively, oversee the work of others and act as a team leader as required. Applicants will be able to perform the genetic analysis of complex diseases in humans.
