Basic functions
- Research, interpretation and application of government, boycott and local symbols, decrees and regulations, including work within the framework of the state level planning program in Oregon.
- As a major plan or support employees in current and long -term planning projects, including land use applications, areas division modifications, and comprehensive plan updates.
- Review and analysis of development proposals, areas division requests, site plans, construction permits to comply with applicable symbols, approved plans, and societal policies.
- Providing clear and accurate information to technical assistance to the public, applicants and other city departments in the front table, by phone, email and public meetings.
- Coordination with other city departments (for example, construction, engineering, public works, fire, gardens) while reviewing permits and developing the project.
- Prepare written reports, staff recommendations, presentations, and visual materials for a set of planning applications and policy initiatives.
- Leading and facilitating the meetings of the Planning Committee, the Historic Milestones Committee, and the Design Review Committee, including preparing business schedules, minutes and notifications.
- Review of development in areas exposed to floods to comply with the standards of Fema and NFIP and local flooding standards; Help with updates and coordination with agencies.
- Coastal coordination and natural resources with DSL and other agencies to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Organizing and participating in public awareness and workshops and the participation of stakeholders related to planning initiatives and land use decisions.
- Supporting history preservation and design review activities, including evaluation of modifications, restorations, and Adaptive reuse Historical characteristics.
- Maintaining accurate records and files related to applications, decisions and plans.
- Responding to law enforcement inquiries and helping to document possible violations related to the use of land and division.
- Performing site visits and field evaluation to evaluate the project and compliance proposals.

- Possessing or ability to obtain a valid Oregon driving license within three months of rental; Safe driving record.
- The ability to perform the basic jobs of the situation with or without reasonable accommodation.
Desired qualifications
- AICP certificate or the ability to obtain it within 3 years.
- Experience with historical conservation, revitalization in the city center, or coastal/marine planning.
- Introduction to the laws of land use in Oregon and administrative procedures.
- Experience in providing pre -councils, committees or ruling bodies.
Work environment
The work is carried out in a standard office environment with field work and attendance at evening meetings. Field work may include exposure to outdoor weather, unequal terrain, and construction sites. The noise level is usually moderate. It may be needed to raise the materials sometimes up to 10 pounds.
