The International Institute for Livestock Research (ILRI), in partnership with the University of Queensland (UQ) and the University of Melbourne (UOM), is implementing a new fellowship model, which is the Biological Sciences Challenge Fund in Africa-Asia (ABCF). This initiative depends on the previous AabCF model by indoor search/ induction in ILRI/ BIOSCINeses Eastern and Central Africa-Institue (Beca-LIRI). The goal is to enhance the ability of national agricultural research and extension (NARES) to implement climate and biological livestock systems in Africa and Asia. This initiative enhances regional experience, enhances knowledge exchange, and develops sustainable research practices. The training program provides an accessible and high -quality education designed for early and medium scientists who participate in climate production systems and related biological science.
Fellowship
Through ABCF Fellowship, ILRI, UOM and UQ seek to 9 of the highly qualified applicants, and three of the three selected countries in Southeast Asia (Cambodia, the Republic of Democratic, and Vietnam), to participate in training related to the productive regulations of climatic livestock. The selected applicants will participate in a three -month position participating in research activities, capacity building, condition, and peer learning throughout the fellowship. Fellows are expected to apply their newly acquired knowledge to enhance their projects or fields of work in the country, and thus contribute to regional research progress. Depending on their research theme, successful applicants may conduct their ILRI fellowship in Kenya or Ethiopia.
Fellowship program goals
- To increase the artistic research and the ability of early scientists from Nares in livestock and biology.
- To enhance regional cooperation between researchers and national institutions.
- To provide scientists with more knowledge, skills, and practical tools in the climate livestock production systems applied to their research and geographical contexts.
- To contribute to the productivity of sustainable livestock and innovation through trained human capital.

The documents of reference conditions (TOR) show the standards, process and responsibilities involved in the early selection of qualified scientists and the middle to participate in the research incitement program. The aim of the program is to enhance research skills for scientists, enhance regional capabilities and cooperate for sustainable livestock development.

Colleaging responsibilities
- Participate actively in all seminars for entry, progress and exit.
- Inclusion of peer learning and cooperative activities.
- Applying the concepts learned to their research or the field of work.
- Provide training assessments and comments.
- Prepare a summary or presentation report that explains how it intends to use training in their research.
Reporting
- Colleagues are required to submit monthly progress, reports or presentations.
Stop requirements (qualifications must have the ideal candidate):
Civil standards
- The attention that has been proven and proven in continuous research in mitigating the livestock of livestock or climate flexibility related to biology.
- Belonging to a recognized public university or national research institutions in Cambodia, the Democratic Democratic Republic of Lao.
- Support letter/recommendation from the home institution
- The motivation and commitment to the application of training knowledge/place showed in the context of the research.

Selection criteria
- The importance of research focus on livestock and biological sciences.

- Two supporting references or letters of recommendation.
The selection process
- Establishing a selection committee that includes representatives from ILRI, Beca-Lilri Hub, Queensland University and University of Melbourne.
- Evaluation of applications based on specified criteria.
- Local candidates for interviews.
- The final choice is based on merit, importance and motivation.
- Notifying successful candidates
Fellowship period
Three (3) months to be completed by February 2026
