About the role
We are seeking an ophthalmologist to join the ophthalmology department here at Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial. The year 2026 begins training on February 2 and mid -year on August 3.
You will enjoy a wide range of outpatient care, as well as theater experience and internal patient care. Our registrar team has a variety of responsibilities, including the management of sharp clinic services. It also works alongside SMO in the clinic, simple procedures and operations theater. Our registrars can also work in the laser clinic and VEGF injection clinics. In call duties, you expect our registrants to work with internal patient issues and the emergency department.
As a registrar, you will enjoy a wide range of outpatient care, as well as the stage of theater and sometimes internal patients. Our registrar team has a variety of responsibilities, including operating sharp clinic services and works closely with SMOS in outpatient clinics, simple procedures and operating theaters. You will also have an opportunity to participate in specialized clinics such as laser clinic and VEGF injection clinics. Duties when calling include managing internal patients and responding to emergency situations in the emergency department.
About the team/ service/ site
The successful candidate will join a team of 5 registered, you will have full support from 3 specialized consultants and work closely with one home officer.
Hawkes Bay Hospital is a 400 -bed general hospital in Hastings, with a population of more than 180,000 people. We provide acute and optional care through a wide range of medical and surgical specialties, including pediatrics, obstetrics, gynecology, and more. Although we do not provide cardiac surgery and neurological surgery, we are supported by the strong regional intensive intensive intensive care unit team, and a comprehensive sponsorship of diverse patients.
