The primary purpose of the situation
This position will serve field crops and commercial gardening industries in Cleveland Province, North Carolina. Initial crops include corn, soybeans, wheat, barley, berries, strawberries, peaches, squash, tomatoes, other various fruits and vegetables, greenhouse and custody crops. The target audience includes both commercial producers on a large scale and the farmers of the direct market for consumers.
The agent’s action plan will focus on:
- Evaluating the needs of the various mixtures of farmers.
- Planning, implementing and evaluating educational strategies to help them increase profits by adopting best practices in crop production and farm management and marketing.
This position will also work as pesticide coordinator in Cleveland Province, and cooperates with NCDA& CS pesticide department to conduct pesticide schools and provide training courses for rehabilitation for private and commercial applicants.
Duties and responsibilities
The agent in this position is responsible for programming extension at all stages of field crops, commercial gardening, and pesticide certificate in Cleveland Province, North Carolina. The main responsibilities include:
- Developing and providing counseling programs that deal with crop production, farm management and marketing.
- Coordination of schools of pesticides and providing training training for private and commercial applicants.
- Use the agricultural file in Cleveland Province to guide programming:
- 104,633 acres of agricultural land, with 45,000 acres for crop production.
- 215 million dollars in the farm income annually (89 % of livestock/poultry, 11 % gardener and row crops).
- 26283 acres of soybeans, corn and wheat.
- Nearly 2,500 acres of commercial fruits and vegetables.
- 4.5 million dollars in nursery sales and annual global warming.
- Traveling inside the area is required. Sometimes travel outside the boycott.
