Nanodtc at the University of Cambridge University is inviting requests for a multidisciplinary doctoral program for a period of 3.5 years.
The program combines practical training, learning based on dust and advanced research, and preparing graduates for professions in academic, industry, emerging companies and beyond.
We welcome applicants from physical sciences, including chemistry, physics, materials and engineering. The brief menu depends on linear applications (qualifications, aspirations, and experience), with the final selection by interviewing with a focus on independent thinking.

About the program
The PhD program begins for a period of 3.5 years with a 6 -month training period, followed by a PhD for a period of 3 years. Training provides students on a large scale of multidisciplinary nanoparticles and supports their transfer from learners to independent researchers. Teaching is practical and applied, with units such as:
- Applied Nanoscience, a preliminary unit that covers the basic topics in nanotechnology research, experimental skills and data analysis through laboratory operations;
- The integration of systems for experimentalists, which provides basic training on electronic models and the initial models of devices, is usually required in experimental research projects;
- Two experimental research projects (Mini and MIDI projects);
- Sustainable innovation and entrepreneurship, which provides students to identify and analyze innovation opportunities from commercial and societal perspectives, evaluate competitive landscape, develop business and more business.
At the 6 -month point, students advance to a multidisciplinary doctoral research project, which is supervised by two research academics. Usually, there are supervisors of physics, chemistry, engineering, materials, or other relevant department throughout the university. Midi Research Project is usually closely related to the intended doctorate project so that students have an opportunity to obtain some experience in potential doctoral laboratory before confirming their selection.
In addition to the basic technical training and research, the program emphasizes the comprehensive approach to science that integrates sustainability and inclusiveness through research, applications, entrepreneurship and communication. Professional skills and construction of dust are enhanced through cross events, including students -led conferences, research seminars, and workshops in the field of career development provided by inside and external experts.
Students at Nanodtc have the opportunity to follow up on multidisciplinary research at the forefront of nanoparticles. Widely, the research within the program (to name a few) include:
- Designed nanopotritis – 1D/2D nanoscopic materials, DNA oreigami and Greek materials, self -combined systems, hybrid nanoparticles, and nanoparticles that are easy to penetrate/MFS;
- The nano -designer – quantum, quantum, optical, electronic, ionic and biological/ biological, magnetic, Plasmonic, electronic visual, nerve shapes;
- Expansion and systems – nanoparticles, cellular manufacturing, sensors /engines, vital electronics, Internet of Things, Theranostics;
- The boundaries in nanotechnology-nanometer science on site, electronic microscope, ultra-speed optical physics, x-rays, thz, SuperResology, modeling.

To enter in October 2026, requests will be considered in two final dates for the internal review of the brief list and interviews:
The first deadline: December 2, 2025
The second deadline: January 3, 2026
Early requests are strongly encouraged, as offers can be submitted after the first deadline.
Specified range: The money of this post is available for 3.5 years in the first place.
