T’puram: Museum police on Tuesday registered a case after a 27-year-old woman was cheated of Rs 7.11 lakh by fraudsters who promised her a work-from-home job with a Singapore-based firm at an attractive salary.The Kowdiar-based woman received a call from the accused on July 24, this year, hours after she searched for an online part-time job. The accused claimed to be a representative of the company. She was told that the company was involved in digital marketing of various products. She was asked to give reviews of products, with each review offering Rs 250. She could do nearly 10 reviews a day, allowing her to earn over Rs 2,000. Later, the accused demanded a security deposit from her. However, the accused did not allow her to withdraw the amount and urged her to invest more to take on a different task that offered triple benefits. Trusting them, the woman paid the money, only to be cheated by the accused.After paying Rs 7.11 lakh, she wanted to withdraw her money, but she was not allowed to do so, with the accused citing silly reasons. This raised suspicion in her and she soon approached police. TNN
