Rudrapur: A headmaster in Utttarakhand’s Udham Singh Nagar district was dismissed from service on Monday after he was found guilty of securing his job with forged educational documents.District education officer Harendra Kumar Mishra said services of Anil Kumar, 52, headmaster of a govt primary school in Sitarganj, was terminated after an inquiry confirmed that his Basic Training Certificate (BTC) marksheet and degree were fake.He was appointed as an assistant teacher in Chamoli district in 1999 through an order of the district basic education officer there. A complaint lodged with the director of primary education on Dec 12, 2024, alleged he had used forged BTC certificates to obtain the job.The director then ordered a probe by Sitarganj sub-divisional education officer. For verification, the BTC marksheet was sent to the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Chamoli. The institute’s report pointed to discrepancies, including suspicious signatures of the then principal of government DIET Gauchar, Chamoli, and a mismatch in marks.The teacher was issued multiple notices to present evidence in his defence but failed to provide satisfactory explanation. He was suspended on May 7, 2024, pending investigation. Sitarganj education officer’s inquiry later confirmed that the certificate and marksheet were forged.“His services have been terminated for producing fake educational documents to secure employment. Several other cases are also under investigation, and strict action will follow once reports are received,” DEO Mishra said.
