Lucknow: Emphasising the complete protection of workers and their rights, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said said every youth employed in Uttar Pradesh will be assured minimum wages and the govt will ensure no establishment exploits them.Inaugurating the three-day ‘Rozgar Mahakumbh’ at Indira Gandhi Pratisthan in Gomtinagar, Yogi said that through regular monitoring and serious efforts, the state machinery would ensure every youth is able to find employment along with dignity. UP is the first state in the country to implement the minimum wage system.He urged promoters and private companies to compensate the workforce fairly and said that the state would step in wherever required to take up the additional burden. “Youths are a reservoir of immense energy. Villages in UP have witnessed mass migration in the past. But now our state is known for generating employment. We will make sure that every youth in the state has a secure job,” Yogi assured the large number of youths who gathered to listen to him.Pointing out successful schemes such as One District One Product, Yogi said that traditional industries and crafts are providing immense opportunities to rural households and have given the state a global identity. Presently, 96 lakh MSME units are active in the state, and 40 lakh migrant workers who returned to their villages during the pandemic have been absorbed into the manufacturing industry, he said. An insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh is being provided for entrepreneurs operating the MSMEs. The Prime Minister’s Vocal for Local and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives have bolstered local products, echoed Yogi.Traditional workers such as carpenters, masons, blacksmiths, goldsmiths, potters, cobblers, and barbers have been provided toolkits and affordable loans along with specialised training to scale up their operations. “We launched the CM Yuva Udyami scheme in Jan under which interest-free loans are being offered to youths between 21 and 40. So far, 70,000 youths have already derived the benefits under the scheme. UP witnessed investments exceeding Rs 15 lakh crore, which created jobs for 60 lakh youths,” the CM said.Moreover, 8.50 lakh youths have been provided jobs with complete transparency, with the majority of jobs created in the police, education, health, and agriculture departments, he added.Taking a leap, support from Tata Technologies is being taken to train youth in the latest technologies such as artificial intelligence, drone technology, robotics, and the Internet of Things, among others. Similarly, educational courses in govt polytechnics and industrial training institutes have been updated. Language training is another aspect where strong focus is being paid at present, Yogi said.Yogi said that labour laws have been modernised and an eye is being kept on agencies that outsource work and keep contractual workers to ensure no issues are created for the workforce against the rules. “When workers and food providers (farmers) are content, both the state and the nation prosper, and we keep moving forward towards achieving Viksit Bharat and a Viksit Uttar Pradesh,” he said.
