Kuwait’s Ministry of Information announced new measures to expand public-private partnerships across media and tourism initiatives, positioning private-sector expertise as a driver of workforce development and economic diversification. The move aligns with the government’s ‘New Kuwait 2035‘ vision to reduce reliance on oil and create new opportunities for Kuwaiti talent.
Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi chaired a meeting where officials outlined major projects. Among them is ‘Leadership by Will,’ a national project celebrating the resilience of past generations while inspiring future contributions to nation-building.
The ministry also highlighted workforce implications in state-run media, with plans to rebrand the Al-Akhbar channel, expand programming, and raise professional standards. Launched in July 2023, the 24-hour channel already produces seven daily bulletins and more than 15 programs, with further facilities and capacity expansions in the pipeline. Officials emphasised that collaboration with private partners in production and technical areas will enhance efficiency and create job opportunities for Kuwaitis.
Tourism was another priority, with the ‘Visit Kuwait’ digital platform set to become a central hub for cultural, entertainment, and travel offerings. Built on a public-private model, the platform will utilise digital tools and coordinated marketing efforts to attract visitors and stimulate local employment.
By involving private expertise in media production and tourism promotion, the ministry aims to modernise its operations, stimulate job creation, and expand Kuwait’s non-oil economy, while developing a skilled workforce to support long-term national goals.
